What is Pilates

Pilates is a form of total body conditioning that is accessible to people of all ages and levels of fitness. Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates as a means of physical workout and total body healing. The six core principles of Pilates are concentration, control, centering, flow, precision and breathing and are integral components of each Pilates session. The principles work synergistically to heal the body, and restore a mind/body connection. Pilates exercises strengthen muscles by lengthening and toning rather than creating bulk and are performed either on mats or utilizing specialized apparatus. At PilatesBarre your instructor will tailor the exercises specifically to your needs and physical conditions.
